These conditions apply to every booking made through Cruise24, the cruise brand of Ambiente Tours GmbH. They set out who your contract is with, what you pay and when, and what happens if plans change.
That depends on what you book. The offer and the confirmation always say which of the two applies.
Both are package travel under the German Civil Code (BGB, sections 651a onwards), which puts the EU Package Travel Directive into law.
An enquiry through the site or by email is not a booking. We reply with a written offer naming the ship, the sailing date, the cabin category, the fare per person, the service charge the line adds, what is and is not included, and the visa position for the ports on the route. The offer is valid for the period stated in it; a cabin and its fare are held only once the line confirms the hold.
The booking is made when you accept the offer in writing (an email is enough) and we send the booking confirmation. Please check it as soon as it arrives: names must match passports exactly, and lines charge for correcting a name later.
Fares are per person, in the currency stated in the offer, for the cabin category named, two sharing unless stated otherwise. What the fare includes differs by line, and the confirmation lists it for your ship. Unless the confirmation says otherwise, these are not included: flights, transfers, shore excursions, drinks packages, Wi‑Fi, speciality restaurants, spa treatments, travel insurance, visas, and the line's daily service charge, whose amount the offer states. Port taxes and fees are included where the confirmation says so.
After booking, a price can change only for the reasons the law allows (fuel, taxes and fees, exchange rates) and never later than 20 days before departure. If the increase is more than 8 %, you may withdraw free of charge (sections 651f and 651g BGB).
The offer states the deposit, when it is due and when the balance is due. For a cruise on its own these follow the cruise line's payment schedule. Bookings made shortly before departure are payable in full on confirmation. The offer also states how you can pay, and any charge for a payment method.
When Ambiente Tours GmbH is the organiser, you receive a security certificate with the confirmation, before any payment is due.
Most cruise lines treat a change of date, ship or cabin after confirmation as a cancellation and a new booking. Where a line allows the change, it charges its own fee. Any fee of ours for the work is stated, together with the line's, before you decide.
You may hand the booking over to another traveller up to seven days before departure (section 651e BGB); the line's fee for the change of name and any difference in fare apply.
You can cancel at any time before departure, in writing. The day we receive your cancellation is the day that counts.
For a cruise on its own, the cruise line's cancellation scale applies. It is printed in the offer and in the confirmation, and it usually rises to the full fare in the last days before sailing. For a package with Ambiente Tours GmbH as the organiser, the cancellation charges are set out in the offer and in the confirmation, and you may always show that our actual loss was lower (section 651h (2) BGB).
If unavoidable and extraordinary circumstances at the destination significantly affect the cruise, you may cancel free of charge (section 651h (3) BGB). Because cancellation charges can be high, we recommend cancellation insurance with every booking.
You are responsible for holding a valid passport and the visas your route requires. The offer states the visa position for every port, based on the passport you tell us you hold, and says plainly where a port is in the Schengen area, where a visa is easy to get but still needed, and where none is needed. That statement is advice, not a guarantee: entry rules change, and each country decides who enters. The costs and consequences of a refused entry or a missing document are yours. Most lines require passports to be valid for six months beyond the end of the cruise.
No fare includes cancellation, medical or repatriation cover. We recommend it for every booking and say so again in the offer.
For a cruise on its own, we are liable for our work as your agent, meaning sound advice and a correctly placed booking. The cruise itself is the line's responsibility under its terms. For a package with Ambiente Tours GmbH as the organiser, we are liable under sections 651i onwards of the BGB. Except for personal injury, and for damage caused intentionally or through gross negligence, our liability is limited to three times the package price (section 651p BGB).
If something goes wrong, tell us straight away, so that we can help put it right while you are still on board.
When Ambiente Tours GmbH is the organiser, your payments are protected against our insolvency, and the security certificate sent with your confirmation names the insurer. When the cruise line is the organiser, the line's own protection covers your payments, and its terms name it.
We handle personal data as described in our privacy notice. German law applies; if you live in the EU, the mandatory consumer protections of your country of residence still apply. For merchants, and for customers with no general place of jurisdiction in Germany, the courts at the registered seat of Ambiente Tours GmbH have jurisdiction.
